But the REAL DEAL is that we have never HAD a capitalist system. Proponents of capitalism have set it apart from the REAL system because that is the part they want to concentrate on. We have and have always had a "free enterprise" system - which necessarily incorporates aspects of capitalism AND socialism. The fact is that the preamble to the Constitution states its purpose as: "in order to form <em><strong>a more perfect Union</strong></em>, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence[sic], promote the <em><strong>general welfare</strong></em>, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our prosperity".
